Here’s how to change the air filter on a Cub Cadet XT1 Tractor.

Begin by removing the hood so you can access the air filter. There are two yellow screws on the top cover, it says lock and unlock. To remove the engine cover, turn the screws counterclockwise to unlock and lift to remove.

To remove the air filter, you need to pull up on the front of the filter, towards the front of the engine, to unlock and then pull out. Remove and clean any debris that might be present in the area.

Reinstall the air filter. On the filter, there is a foam wrap that you need to install on the filter. With these air filters, we do not recommend using any type of compressed air to blow these out. Tap it gently to remove dust. If it is damaged, replace it with a new one. Same with the foam filter on the outside. You can wash these with a little Dawn dish soap and some water or replace them if necessary. Reinstall the foam on the air filter. Make sure that it covers all the paper pleat completely.

Reinstall the air filter. Put it into the intake first, push down, and slide it in. Make sure it clips into the air filter housing for a proper fit. Reinstall the engine cover. Again, the yellow tabs need to be facing unlocked, push down, and turn clockwise to lock into place.
